艺术家施勇的自述：
    “仔细想想，昨天你究竟干吗去了？”这件以采访为方式的录像作品，通过审问式的语言追问来观察、衡量、甚至侵犯被访者的记忆与自我认同。我通过逼问与诱导各种不同身份和不同阶层的人，一方面真切地抖露出不同生活圈子里的种种现实；而另一方面“现实”又在被访者的荒诞口述中被艺术家编织、截取和再创造。

Artist statement by Shi Yong
This video work titled "Think carefully, where have you been yesterday?" is an interview through interrogation question to observe, measure, or even infringe upon the interviewee’s memory and self-identity. I forced and induced various stratums of society, on one hand, different social lives exposed the various realities; on the other, the "reality" is being revised, intercepted and re-created by the artist, based on the interviewee’s absurd telling.

    施勇的录像“仔细想想，昨天你究竟干吗去了？”是一个分析和揭示人的内心真实性的作品。艺术家调整了自我身份，先是社会学家身份，再是艺术家身份。这个身份转换的过程具体表现在他先社会学家身份介入以人为主体的社会内部，即以录像采访的方式对不同身份和不同阶层的人进行了追问，唤起被访者的记忆和经历，并诱导出形形色色的隐藏在个人内心深处的真实。在这个“真实”再现的基础上，被访者的口述经过艺术家的过滤（截取、剪辑和编辑）再创造了一种新的艺术故事。

Shi Yong: Behind the survey by video interviews
Shi Yong’s video work Think carefully, where have you been yesterday? intends to analyze and discover an emotional truth of a man. The artist has positioned his self-identity first as a sociologist, then as an artist. The process of identity conversion is shown accurately through his intervention as a sociologist into a society, in which people are the main object, in other words, by video interviews to interrogate questions to people of different identities and social classes in an attempt to infringe upon the interviewee’s memory and experiences, thus, inducing various individualistic truths hidden in one’s deep heart. Based on the representation of this “truth”, the interviewee’s telling being filtered (revised, intercepted and edited) by the artist has recreated a new artistic story.
